Meet our absolute favorite margarita, the salt foam passion fruit margarita. If you have seen our recipes for a while, it is no surprise we are obsessed with margaritas. And when it comes to margaritas, we are of the belief that a passion fruit margarita is the ultimate variety. To put this passion fruit margarita over the top as truly our favorite margarita of all time, instead of a salt rim, we add a salt foam on top.
Components of the Tequila and Chinola Cocktail:
1. Lime Juice:
Lime juice is a staple in margaritas. Its tangy, citrusy flavor provides a bright and fresh base that balances the sweetness of the other ingredients. Freshly squeezed lime juice is always preferred for the best taste.
2. Tequila Reposado:
Tequila Reposado, which is aged between two months and a year in oak barrels, adds depth and complexity to this cocktail. It has a smooth, slightly oaky flavor that pairs beautifully with the other ingredients, enhancing the overall drinking experience.
3. Chinola:
Chinola, or passion fruit liqueur, introduces sweetness and a little bit of tartness that complements the lime juice and tequila. Its tropical flavor profile brings a unique twist to the classic margarita, making this cocktail one of our absolute favorites.
4. Agave Syrup:
Agave syrup adds a natural sweetness to the cocktail, balancing the tartness of the lime juice and the slight bitterness of the Cointreau. Its smooth, mild flavor ensures that the drink is sweet but not overly so.
5. Cointreau:
Cointreau is a premium orange liqueur that brings a hint of citrus and a touch of sweetness to the cocktail. It blends seamlessly with the lime juice and tequila, adding a layer of complexity to the drink.
6. Salt Foam:
The salt foam topping is what really sets this cocktail apart. Made with water, lime juice, kosher salt, and Sucro Esters, this light and airy foam adds a unique texture and a salty kick that perfectly complements the sweetness and tartness of the drink. It’s a twist on the traditional salted rim, providing a more refined and elegant touch.
