This chicken souvlaki is marinated in spices and yogurt for the most tender and flavorful chicken skewers. The yogurt tenderizes the chicken while the flavors from the spices, onions, and peppers permeate the meat. Once they are marinated, simply throw the skewers on the grill for the most delicious, simple chicken souvlaki!
For a dinner party or large group, we love pairing this with some of our other favorite greek flavors:
- Tzatziki is one of our favorite dips and pairs perfectly with the chicken. It is creamy from the Greek yogurt but filled with brightness from the lemon and cucumber. The green onion and herbs add flavor and when it is all stirred together it is thick, creamy, and speckled with herbs.
- Lemon Potato Wedges: These potato wedges might be our favorite way to prepare potatoes. The potatoes are soft on the inside but crispy and golden on the outside. They get coated in a shallot, garlic, herb olive oil that makes each bite crispy, soft, and full of flavor.
- Greek Salad: This greek salad with feta dressing is one of our favorite weeknight meals and also perfect to serve alongside the chicken. The salad is crisp and fresh from the romaine base. The dressing is creamy from the feta but filled with brightness from the garlic and lemon. To top it all off we add lots of fresh herbs, pine nuts, and kalamata olives. This salad is one of our absolute favorites
To make the Chicken Souvlaki:
Making the chicken is simple and quick! Start by cutting the chicken breast into 1” cubes. After it is cut, place it into a plastic bag. In a separate bowl, mix together greek yogurt, olive oil, garlic, and spices. Mix the marinade together and put into the plastic bag. Coat the chicken evenly and marinate for 4-24 hours.
Once the chicken is marinated, place the pieces on skewers alternating with peppers and onions. Cook the chicken on the grill until the internal temperature reaches 165. After cooking, let it rest for 10 minutes and serve!
